Organic SEO

What is Organic SEO

Organic SEO refers to a type of search engine optimisation which strives to improve a website’s search engine results pages (SERP) ranking all naturally. The main goal is to optimise a website without the use of unethical and manipulative tactics which have been shown not only to be ineffective but even damaging. Search engines change their algorithms all the time and sooner or later, they figure out that they have been manipulated. And when they do, they may even remove such websites from their indexes.

How Organic SEO Works

Organic SEO puts a major emphasis on content. Both web users and search engines reward content and the SEO industry follows the old saying “content is king” from the very start. This saying, however, is only partly true. Web users are not only looking for content but they are looking for unique, interesting and valuable information. And when they find it, they are more likely to return as well as to leave a backlink on other websites with relevant content, helping a website gain more weight in the eyes of search engines. Organic SEO therefore doesn’t only focus on content but quality content which also contains just the right amount of relevant keywords for search engines to recognise its value.

In addition to making content attractive for both the visitors and search engines, organic SEO may also involve link building because the number of inbound links indicates the popularity of a website. But just like poorly written content, backlinks without relevance to the original website don’t do the trick either. Again, it is not quantity but quality that counts. In order to benefit from link building campaign, you need backlinks from authority websites with relevant content. Organic SEO therefore focuses on quality rather than quantity and above all, giving the visitors and other website owners a reason to link to your website.

What are the Advantages of Organic SEO

Since organic SEO strictly avoids unethical strategies, it brings long lasting results and makes your website immune to search engine algorithm changes. By choosing organic SEO, you don’t have to worry about being demoted or even removed from search engine indexes which is exactly what happened to many websites that were ranked high in SERP artificially.

What are the Disadvantages of Organic SEO

The only disadvantage of organic SEO, if it can be viewed as such, is that it takes time to show results. On the other hand, SEO providers that bring fast results usually don’t bring results that last. Not for long at least because they typically use unethical and manipulative strategies that would sooner or later get you in trouble with the search engines. And when you are in trouble with the search engines, it is much more challenging to return to your prior ranking than to improve your current position in SERP.
